Since the first waves of Italian immigrants made their way to St. Louis in the 1800s and early 1900s, the Italian community has made an indelible imprint on our region. Commemorate Italian American Heritage Month with this series of three programs. 


Wednesday, October 4 | 7pm | Lee Auditorium | Free 

Jennifer Medeiros, St. Louis Community College, and Gary Mormino, author of Immigrants on the Hill, will offer a joint presentation exploring how and why Italians immigrated to St. Louis, as well as the development of the Hill and other historic Italian neighborhoods. Books will be available for purchase.

Indulge in a culinary tour of Italy with a four-course Italian meal featuring dishes from the various Italian regions represented in St. Louis. Jeanne Florini, professor of the Dietetic Technology program at St. Louis Community College–Florissant Valley, will explain the cultural and environmental influences on the foods of the regions. *Register through October 2.


Wednesday, October 25 | 7pm | Lee Auditorium | Free 

Frank Cusumano will moderate this panel representing various sectors—business, faith, education, government, and sports—to explore the ways in which the contemporary Italian community continues to shape and contribute to the St. Louis region and other communities around the United States. 


Presented in collaboration with Ciao St. Louis and the COMITES.
