This metal leg brace with a pair of child's leather shoes was worn by Hulda Marie Grote in 1889. Born March 24, 1888, to parents August and Whilimenia Grote, Hulda began walking on her toes. She used this brace, shown fitted to her shoe, to correct her walk.
